Mexico, Mexico City by Alfredo

When arrived first time in Gothenburg, Alfredo was surprised by the local weather. The picture he carried in his mind was a snowy wonderland. The things he experienced were mainly rain and wind and… very calm atmosphere.
Mexico City, where he is coming from, has around 24 million people living there. There is nothing like this place. It is one of the biggest cities in the world. It is built on a lake and it is sinking every year even to 9 m. (Or actually on an island on the lake. The lake was dried and creates now unstable fundaments due to clay substrate). However, the general altitude is high: 2 240 m above the sea level. This condition makes hard to compete for the coming sportsmen during international tournaments. It was prominent especially during the first Olympics organized there in 1968. Several athletes were complaining that the high altitude is affecting in a negative way their physical competitiveness.
Does it mean that the Mexico City can make you tired faster? Definitely it will not make you bored.
A very good point to start exploring the place is La Condesa-the equivalent of Haga in Gothenburg. It is an area raised during the colonial times. Nowadays old buildings are adapted as pubs and cafés.
Mexico City is not reach in natural resources, while citizens of Gothenburg have an opportunity to be in touch with nature. Thanks to that Alfredo was able to discover a new passion-fishing! He was never doing it before, when now it is part of his life.

AGORA is a talk-show,
where together with my guests in the studio,
we are trying to find a new perspective
of the city of Gothenburg:

Inside out and outside in.

In order to get a new point of view of the city we are presenting Gothenburg in a juxtaposition to a wide array of place all around the world.

My guests are citizens of Gothenburg: some of them have been living here just few months, while the others-for few years. They are coming from different places all around the world. They are inviting the listeners to their hometowns and comparing their cities to Gothenburg (the outside in perspective).

Some of my interlocutors have been living in Gothenburg (or in its close neighbourhood) since they are born. They are sharing with their experience of this city as a point of departure to discover other remote places. They are comparing the other spots to Gothenburg (inside out perspective).

All in all, the program is about presenting other cities vs Gothenburg.

You are also welcome to join the program as my guest!
