Surgical Mess

In this episode of F-EMME, we're talking about women's healthcare, including birth control and giving birth, as well as the horrifying complications of vaginal surgical mesh--which has hundreds of thousands of American women suing. We also share a few stories of women that were not listened to my medical professionals or whose pain was ignored.

Sunna mentions a TedX talk given by a young women who had to convince doctors to perform a tubal ligation because she knew she did not want to have children. Here is the link: https://www.ted.com/talks/christen_reighter_i_don_t_want_children_stop_t...

We also discuss giving birth laying down and an article that was recently published about consent during labor. You can find that article here: http://www.wbur.org/commonhealth/2018/05/11/doula-culture-of-consent

Next week's episode will be our 20th! And we're celebrating with some summertime tips. Be sure to tune in next week to hear about our favorite feminist summer reads, movies, and shows, and some fantastic feminist events happening in Gothenburg this summer.

F-EMME is a space for us to discuss feminist issues and initiatives, often drawing from our own experiences and opinions as young women.
