Sweden and the Syrian migrant crisis (part 1)

This week, we discuss the situation in Sweden six years on from the peak of the Syrian migrant crisis in Europe. Since the beginning of the Syrian war ten years ago, Sweden opened its doors, taking the most amount of Syrian migrants and refugees per capita in Europe. In the past six years, Swedish politics, society and public discourse have changed drastically as a result. We talk to Christopher Palmer - a youth counsellor for unaccompanied refugee children in Sweden - to dig deeper into how the integration process worked, and how the right-wing party the Sweden Democrats have increased in popularity. As always, tune in to hear our song of the week (by an artist of the country/region we are discussing) at the end of the show!

Give a Sh!t - The Israel/Palestine conflict and the vaccine apartheid

This week’s episode focuses on the Israel/Palestine conflict and the vaccine apartheid. Since the end of WW2, the situation between these two nations has continued to escalate, with the international community condemning Israel’s treatment of Palestinians in the occupied territories and settlements. The apartheid regime in place has recently escalated even further due to the spread of the Corona Virus and has left millions of Palestinians without access to a Vaccine. We talk to Human rights observer Yonatan Goldshtein - an active participant in Palestinian solidarity work and a member of European Jews for a Just Peace - to find out more. This week’s episode features the anti-occupation song ‘Cavalry’ by Lebanese band Mashrou Leila. Tune in to hear it at the end of our show!
