#Stop 18: Slovenia

All aboard the Trans-European Indie Express!

Driving through down south again through the known musical landscapes of Germany and Austria, we are stopping in Slovenia for this episode. Although the former country of Yugoslavia, that Slovenia was apart of, has long been broken up, the Slovenian music scene is still influenced by the Yugoslavian sounds. We explore these sounds by looking at artists that have been shaping the scene for over 10 years but also Newcomers who are bringing new elements into the scene. From electro-pop, rock, grunge to blues – the songs in this episode cover a variety of genres. The die-hard ESC fans might even recognize a song!

All of our favourite songs of this journey are featured in our curated playlist:

All aboard the Trans-European Indie Express! This show was created as Europe went into its second covid lockdown in the fall of 2020, leaving small, local bands without gigs and festivals - and leaving us without the possibility to travel. Therefore, we will attempt to travel through Europe as digital music tourists, exploring different countries by tuning in to their local, independent music scene and discover artists that are largely unknown outside of their home countries.
