Enough reason to post something here during the summer break: Bloc Party released their first song since 2009 yesterday. It's called "Octopus" and it's the first single off their new album ("Four", out August 20). Cool song, I think - one to make you dance, and one that comes with a Daft Punk-like solo.
Just made me listen to old Bloc Party records again and made me realize just how good this band this. One of the best bands of the last ten years? My answer would be yes. In my opinion, still few things are as good as "Helicopter" when you're at a club. Other songs just give you goosebumps (hey, what would the end of the first How I Met Your Mother season have been without "This Modern Love"? Exactly).
I'll make it Bloc Party appreciation night now and add some more videos below. Waiting for the new album. And Way Out West: I know Kraftwerk are legends. But my request for a late addition would have been the reunited Bloc Party. Go fix that for next year!
P.S. Make sure to check out the "Kreuzberg" video and watch the Blogothèque version of "This Modern Love"
