This time on Ordinary Observations, Jack is joined by long time friends of the show Ariel (of Armchair American fame) and Alex (a professional journalist) to cast an intrigued gaze upon some recent events from the animal world. We start off with Fat Bear Week, a celebration of salmon consumption from Katmai National Park where the Grizzlies are preparing for another winter of hibernation. Next is Bird of the Year, New Zealand's annual avian popularity contest, which takes us to a particularly remote part of the Southern Pacific to meet this years winner. And finally we throw in a heartwarming, stomach-turning story about a dolphin who has learned a somewhat revolting new trick. Listen in to learn a thing or two.
